Woodward at Copper Camps Start on June 17

Copper Mountain, CO…June 16, 2010…Woodward at Copper, deep in the heart of the Colorado Rockies, is the first indoor/outdoor snowboard and ski camp on the planet with a focus on terrain park and pipe progression. The 20,000 sq. ft. Woodward at Copper Barn gives campers access to Snowflex® jumps, foam pits, a spring floor, fly-bed trampolines and indoor skateboard features. Summer Camps also include access to skiing/riding on-snow in Woodward at Copper’s summer terrain park.

The Woodward at Copper staff has been incredibly busy getting everything ready for summer camps and campers will wait no longer. The 2nd annual summer camp sessions at Woodward at Copper begin on Thursday, June 17 and the entire staff is excited to welcome summer campers once again. The first week of Woodward at Copper summer camp will be geared towards adults, women and competitive teams. Athletes will be coached; however there will be no overnight counselors or Copper activities during this Session. USASA PacSun is sponsoring this first session.

Snowboard this Summer at Bonfire’s Pipe to Pipe

PORTLAND, OR (June 14, 2010)—Bonfire Snowboarding Company is putting the pipe back in Pipe to Pipe at the world’s longest running summer snowboard event July 10^th at Windells Snowboard Camp on Mt. Hood.

Riders can expect a 150-foot long half pipe filled with a full mix of features and jibs for unlimited creativity created throughout the course, created specifically for the event by Windell’s dig staff, led by Head Digger Keaton Pearson.

This long-standing event is a chance for Ams to ride with the Pro’s including Bode Merrill, Jed Anderson, Desiree Melancon and the Bonfire and Salomon teams. The jam style format, sideline contests, prizes and free food make this an event you won’t want to miss.

Registration is free and starts the morning of the event at 9am. Space is limited and arriving early is encouraged.

The skate event will take place in the new concrete park at Windell’s and is sponsored by Creature, Independent Trucks and OJ wheels. Registration starts at 5pm at Windell’s skate park.

SUMMER IS IN THE AIR AT STEAMBOAT

Champagne Powder™ snow has given way to lush green landscapes and abundant Colorado wildflowers, and it means one thing in Steamboat, summer is in full swing as the resort begins summer mountain operations on Friday, June 18th. Opening weekend launches with the 4th annual Free Family Fun Fest on Saturday, June 19th and things are jam packed from there both at the resort and in town, with a calendar chocked full of events and activities for the entire family.

“While Steamboat may be best known for its world-class skiing and snowboarding, summer is one of the best times to visit and enjoy the other side of Ski Town, USA®,” says Chris Diamond, president and chief operating officer for Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp. “The combination of long sunny days with cool nights along with an array of on-mountain activities and town events makes Steamboat a bustling summer community every week of the season.”

Summer operations run at the resort Friday, June 18th through Labor Day weekend with access to the Coca Cola Adventure Zone in Gondola Square, Gondola Rides for hiking, biking and sightseeing, and on-mountain dining at Thunderhead. The resort partners with local radio station KFMU to host the Free Family Fun Fest on Saturday, June 19th which features FREE Adventure Zone activities from 10 am to 2 pm. Children 12 and under can also ride the Gondola for FREE while adults pay half price during the festival.

Summer on the mountain features hiking and mountain biking trails from Thunderhead at 9,080 feet down to the base area at 6,900 feet. Trails will begin to open Friday, June 18th and will continue to become available as conditions permit. The Information Center in Gondola Square can provide a complete list of open trails, activities and current events at the resort. Steamboat Ski Resort will also offer guided gourmet hikes, Sunday Brunch on the mountain, Special Friday Sunset Happy Hours, Art on the Mountain during 4th of July weekend and the Martini Festival in September.

The town of Steamboat Springs is equally as eventful as the mountain. Nearly every weekend there is a festival, concert, event or activity for everyone to enjoy. HCSC and Celtek Join Hands

DC Announces Special Collaboration with Neff Headwear for Winter 2011

June 14, 2010—(VISTA, CA)— DC is proud to announce its collaboration with NEFF Headwear for a limited edition snow collection for the Winter 2011 season. The collection features snowboards, snowboard boots, fleece, t-shirts, gloves, and headwear that will hit stores in September 2010.

A true creative collaboration between DC and NEFF, the collection was inspired by the beaches and 1980’s nightlife of Miami. From the florescent neon colors and art deco signs, to flamingos and palm tree lined streets, the graphics designed for this project are warm, sunny and bright – everything that winter is traditionally not.

SNOWBOARDER MAGAZINE ANNOUNCES SUPERPARK SUNDAY SHOWDOWN PRESENTED BY GATORADE

Contest Begins Sunday, June 13

SAN CLEMENE, CALIF., June 11, 2010 -SNOWBOARDER Magazine has brought the world’s top snowboarding talent together for their annual Superpark event for over 14 years running and every year the staff is inundated with more amazing content than they know what to do with.

This year was no exception. “With over 60 videographers and 200 plus riders in attendance at Superpark 14 presented by Gatorade, the amount of coverage produced by this one event was outstanding,” said Chris Engelsman, publisher SNOWBOARDER Magazine. Therefore, in addition to all the content already available on snowboardermag.com, SNOWBOARDER is bringing readers into the mix with a new video contest called Superpark Sunday Showdown presented by Gatorade.

The contest pits 16 video submissions from top snowboard video producers, including the likes of Videograss, Play Big and Helgasons, against one another in a bracket system to determine who created the best video from Superpark 14 encapsulating Gatorade’s “Go All Day” mantra. Ultimately, one edit will be named the single best video produced at Superpark14. SNOWBOARDER will award the winner a hefty $5,000 grand prize. But first they must earn your votes.

Each week a new match-up will be posted on snowboardermag.com. “SNOWBOARDER has studied all of the videos in great detail in order to seed the submissions in a way that is going to create the greatest contrast,” notes Pat Bridges, editor SNOWBOARDER Magazine. “This insures that angles, riders, themes and editing will be as varied as possible in the early brackets.”

Voting in each round will begin on Sunday and close the following Friday at midnight (PST). Fans can vote for their favorite video once every 24 hours. At the end of each week the number of votes each video received will be tallied and the winner will advance into the next round.

“The head-to-head format is unique in that it’ll introduce audiences to video crews they may have never heard of before like Homies Grounds from Europe, Think Thank or Variety Pack,” adds Engelsman. “We created Superpark Sunday Showdowns to provide a platform for Superpark’s videographers and riders to showcase their talents, but also as a fun and creative new way to share the excitement of Superpark with our readers.”

In addition to watching the videos for overall enjoyment, each clip will be accompanied by an editorial synopsis and background information that can be taken under consideration prior to voting.

The first match up is between TJ Schneider’s Snowboard Realms and the Video Gypsy Nick Cater. Voting for this first bracket begins this Sunday, June 13 at snowboardermag.com.

With a name that has become as synonymous with viral snowboarding media as it has with bacon-wrapped hot dogs and donkey shows, TJ Schnieder and his Snowboard Realms rules the roostin’ when it comes to video blogging. Here, TJ, a seven year Superpark attendee–and his colleague Leo Hoorn collaborate on an emo rock-infused edit. Not since 2007’s First Kiss have so many Capita team riders appeared together in one video. This time though, the hi-8 has been replaced by HD! Featuring the talents of Scott Stevens, Brandon Cocard, Sage Kotsenberg, “MVP” Murray Hodgson, Jessica Kimura, Niklas Mattsson, Jared Dawoud, Andrew Burns and Dustin Craven. **Warning** This video contains a frontside invert with an obscene amount of foreplay.

If you’ve never heard of Buddy Back 7 or Johnny Frontflip, then you’re not alone. SNOWBOARDER checked the Superpark credentialed riders list and couldn’t find them there either. It wasn’t until we Googled said names ’til we realized that Nick Cater, the auteur behind Video Gypsy pulled an Ellis Island and just used whatever titles he felt like to denote the riders. This means that you’ll have to do some sleuthing to figure out that Buddy Back 7 at 1:02 is actually Marc Swoboda or Johnny Frontflip at 1:59 is actually Ted Borland. While your sleuthing, you might want to look up Shakira’s video for the song “Gypsy” where her pouty lips are put to good use as she bares her navel while also baring her harmonica-playing soul!
